“Reed Jackson, a writer and creative at UNINTERRUPTED, told Them over the phone that he and his coworkers had been thinking about the idea behind Q&Athlete since last spring. A former music journalist, Jackson was inspired by his own experiences of fruitlessly messaging “queer guy musicians who had complicated identities” in an attempt to understand his own sexuality. He had been thinking about the idea of a portal like this for years, and when he made the jump from music journalism to the much more sports-centric UNINTERRUPTED, he was excited to have the opportunity to “create a bridge” between amateur and pro LGBTQ+ athletes.”
